Start preparing yourself for the 9 week exam it will be next week on the 14-15 Jan.  The topics will consist of the readings on Cortes, Hidalgo, Columbus, Bolivar, San Martin, Marti as well as the daily routine vocabulary, reflective verbs, ser/estar, present progressive, saber/conocer, gustar and like verbs as well as ir +a.  This week we will also begin a new chapter as soon as we finish the review of what Latin Americans do during the winter vacation versus what you did.  The Venn Diagram will be done in class this Monday/Tuesday.  This week you will be working on new vocabulary.  We will only have English Fridays and some classes will begin having music passes. You will have homework each day so be prepared.

In preparation for the 9 week exam you should review chapter 3B how to get around in the community, present progressive, commands affirmative as well as negative and the irregular ones, review the vocabulary and review your readings on Spain  Barcelona, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, etc. including el turron y la sangria readings we did.  Christopher Columbus will also be on the exam so review your notes and the reading as well as your book report in order to help you study.  Monday, for those of you that decided to participate in the 3 Kings activity, you will choose the name and all will be writing a letter.  In this letter to the 3 Kings you will state different things you like including favorite chips, drink, candy etc.  For those of you not participating in 3 Kings your letter will me to our principal, explaining what you wish to change in the school and why.
This week we will also begin the new chapter on sports.  be prepared to have a current event weekly about sports in the news.  You will have to be able to explain the game for the sport of your choosing.  It will be verbal and there will be similar activities in class as to what is expected of you to do.  be prepared to watch and describe different sports as they are occurring.  You will also have homework each class so be prepared.  You will not have homework on Fridays other than have your article for the current event with the summary done if you do not do it earlier in the week.  All current events will be due Monday or Tuesdays (which ever day I see you) at the beginning of the period.  At the end of this chapter we will have a game Morning and there will be a movie related to the theme as well.
